Metal powders are very expensive and dangerous. After the 3D part has been printed, a considerable amount of metal powder remains dispersed inside the printer chamber.
Metal powder recovery can improve production efficiency and improve the quality of the final product, avoiding cross-contamination between different production cycles/materials. It can also extend the life of the printer itself, require fewer operators and reduce the exposure of workers to harmful elements, minimising the risk of injury, always in compliance with health and safety standards and ATEX directives.
Delfin systems can carry the recovered metal powder from the printer to the vibrating screen or to special containers for raw materials through a safe system.
Our customer, a 3D printing company, needed to recover excess metal powders in the printer in order to avoid cross-contamination between different production cycles and different production batches.
With the solution proposed by Delfin, the inside of the production cell is cleaned and the metal powders are transported inside a container. To save on the costs of repurchasing the powder, after the appropriate sieving operations, the clean powder is fed back into the production cycle.
